I Will Be Happy If The Government Step In To Help Musicians Get Their Royalties – Amakye Dede

Amakye Dede, the legendary figure in Ghanaian highlife music, has accused several GHAMRO officials of embezzling money.

During an interview on Kessben FM, he said, “There are certain self-centered persons at GHAMRO who refuse to give musicians the money they have earned over the years.”

But that’s not how we should conduct our lives, he said, “since their songs were created by someone, and you don’t even know how they came up with the creative component.”

He bemoaned, “You are sitting in the GHAMRO office simply taking their money, which is not pleasant since one person alone cannot eat for the rest to go without.

After accusing GHAMRO’s operators of wasting money intended for artists, Abrantie Amakye Dede has urged the authorities to look into the group’s operations.

“I will be happy if the government steps in to assist the musicians, as it will be far better than just allowing a select few to sit at GHAMRO and simply squander the money intended for artists,” the speaker said.
