Police Keep Harassing Me Even Though I Have Stop Smoking Wee – Kwaw Kese Laments
Swedru-raised Ghanaian rapper Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, also known as Kwaw Kese, bemoaned the police’s relentless pursuit of anyone they suspect of possessing marijuana, or “weed,” as it is generally called.
You might remember that Kwaw Kese was detained by the Ghana Police in Kumasi in 2015 for smoking marijuana in public and was given a one-day jail term as well as a GHC 1200 fine.
The Mad Time Boss recently said, however, that Ghana Police are still bothering him over the same marijuana-related matter on Accra 100.5FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo with host Nana Romeo Welewele.
“As of right now, the police stop me and look for marijuana.” Kwaw Kese stated, “It occurred again three days ago.”
He said, “I was in the Trassaco neighborhood in an Uber cab when the cops stopped us. That’s why they keep bugging me. They wanted me to get out of the car so they could look for cannabis until they realized it was me in the backseat.
He emphasized that since his imprisonment a few years ago, he had abstained from marijuana use. He emphasized, “I have even given up smoking cannabis.” “You want to put me in jail again because you found marijuana on me for a case.”
He stated: “Sometimes, when I travel, I don’t even want to return to Ghana” in response to the actions of the police. He focused on being imprisoned for marijuana possession.
“Every time I think about that problem, I cry,” he admitted. “I’m a Ghanaian, but when they found me using marijuana, they threw me in jail, but when a Jamaican came to Ghana and was smoking everywhere in public, the police were guarding him as he smoked in the presence of Ghanaians,” the man said.
So, he wondered, what do the cops want? How do they function? Are they attempting to harm or help Ghanaians?
