The supposed assassin of TakeOff has maintained his innocence, and now his pals are standing by him, saying that he is being set up.
The Daily Beast reported earlier this month that Patrick Xavier Clark’s friends were horrified to learn that the promoter had been detained and accused of killing TakeOff.
Clark, according to Houston rapper Jmali, was well-known and adored in his city and also owned a well-known strip club named The Flame HTX.
Jmali also said Clark never came across as a violent person and if he was involved with the shooting that night it had to be an accident. “You could see by the reactions of everyone that we’re shocked because that’s not the type of person [Clark] is,” Jmali told The Daily Beast. “He was about business, not violence.”
Another one of his friends said: “I know him. He’s not like that. I honestly feel like they got the wrong guy. He doesn’t get mad or hostile. He’s very nice and thoughtful. That’s all I have to say. I feel he is being framed.”
Clark, also known as DJ Pat in Houston, was detained on December 1 and is being kept in custody after posting a $2 million bond on a murder accusation. Before being apprehended, he reportedly attempted to flee to Mexico.
An application for an expedited passport was made by Clark soon after TakeOff passed away on November 1st, according to a motion made during a bond hearing.
He allegedly provided an itinerary with Mexico as the destination to support the urgent request. Clark was found in possession of a sizable sum of cash, according to the arrest record, which was used by Houston prosecutors to ask the court to treat him as a flight risk.
